As a driver, the thing you want most is your and your family's safety. If you want to know a couple of tips and tricks, that will help you achieve a safer drive, keep on reading because we will help with that.
Let's start with driving posture. It's first on our list because most people don't take its importance seriously. When you get in a car, the first thing you should do is adjust the seat, even before you put your seatbelt on. Adjust it, so it's not too far or close to the steering wheel, with enough space for your legs. Then adjust the steering wheel if necessary. Side mirrors and the rear-view mirror should be set up so you can see everything on the road and don't have any blind spots. The last thing to keep in mind is standing up straight so you can move around - providing extra visibility.
Keeping your vehicle serviced and well-maintained is vital to your safety. Tires should be the right ones for the season, fluids should be topped off, dashboard lights should be ignored, and warning signs like weird noises or difficulty controlling the car have to be taken into account. Scheduling regular visits to a repair shop helps a lot with this because everything will be routinely checked and serviced.
By "Road Awareness," we mean being careful on the road and taking in everything that is happening. This can be helped by discarding any other side activities like texting, talking on the phone, or losing concentration. When you are focused on the road, reaction time is shortened and can save you from some unwanted situations.
While it can sound silly, driving while sleepy is extremely dangerous. When you are tired, or in the worst case, half asleep, you are not focused on the road, you tend to drift from side to side, and your reaction time becomes much slower. We advise you to take a break before traveling for a long time, or even offer someone else to drive instead.
If your mirrors, tires, seatbelt, or any other part that is important for your safety is malfunctioning, make sure to call us at George's Complete Auto Repair! We can help you with ensuring a safer, more comfortable drive. You can contact us by calling (239) 217-3660!
